Mesquite bowls are of two varieties, the “natural edge” and the “finished edge.”  The natural edge features the irregularities of the surface of the log with bark, sapwood, and any other naturally occurring features.  The finished edge bowl is symmetric and consistent around the perimeter of the bowl.  Each type of bowl will have unusual grain patterns depending on its orientation within the tree.  The bowls shown here are over 15 inches in diameter and approximately four inches deep.
